140mm LED recessed downlight dimmable, CRI 94 — for ceiling apertures 110 to 130 mm
The ED4KX 140mm recessed downlight is available in 3000K Warm White and 4000K Neutral White, delivering a measured colour rendering of CRI 94 (Ra > 90). It fits ceiling apertures of 110 to 130 mm (max. 135 mm) — exactly the cutout size most commonly found in renovation projects from the 2000s.
At 11 watts and 1,100 lumens at 100 lm/W, it delivers the light output of a 75-watt incandescent bulb at one seventh of the energy consumption. Dimmable via standard trailing-edge wall dimmers or via KNX dimmer actuator.

What you see: At CRI 80, red and cyan spectral components are missing — reds turn brown-tinged, teal blurs into blue-grey. CRI 94 renders the visible spectrum almost exactly as daylight — verifiable to

IP44 — suitable for bathrooms and covered outdoor areas
With protection class IP44, the ED4KX is also suitable for damp locations: bathrooms (outside protection zone 1 — not directly above shower or bath), covered outdoor areas such as porches and canopies, and changing rooms in sports facilities.

Rule of thumb: the aperture must be at least 10 mm smaller than the outer diameter. At 135 mm please check the cut quality before installation.

Tested dimmer compatibility
KNX / Smart Home
Compatible with KNX trailing-edge dimmer actuators (e.g. MDT, Gira). For pure KNX installations we recommend the DALI version — cleaner integration with no minimum-load issues.
Important: Use only LED-compatible trailing-edge dimmers. Standard leading-edge (phase-cut) dimmers for incandescent bulbs are not approved and may cause flickering or damage.

Frequently asked questions about the 140mm ED4KX
Will the ED4KX fit my 120 mm ceiling aperture?
Yes — the ED4KX covers apertures from 110 to 130 mm. A 120 mm cutout sits right in the middle of the ideal range and fits without any modification. At 135 mm, please check the cut quality before installation.
Is the driver really included in the delivery?
Yes — the matching dimmable 230 V driver is always included and comes pre-wired. The manufacturer's spec icon shows “NO DRIVER INCLUDED” as a generic graphic — this does not apply to our delivery.
Which dimmer do you recommend?
Proven models: Merten MEG5134-0000 (up to 10 luminaires), Busch-Jäger 2250U / 6523U (up to 10), Jung 224 and Gira 245000 / 244000 (up to 5 each). Always use trailing-edge (leading-edge off) dimmers only. Tell us your switch range — we'll recommend the right dimmer free of charge.
Is there a DALI version for KNX?
Yes — the
DALI version of the ED4KX 140mm uses the same luminaire body with a DALI-2 driver — integrates directly with KNX, Gira HomeServer and DALI bus systems.
