245mm LED recessed downlight dimmable, CRI 92+ — large-diameter downlight for apertures 200 to 230 mm
The ED8KX 245mm recessed downlight is a large-diameter LED downlight designed for ceiling apertures between 200 and 230 mm (max. 235–240 mm). Available in 3000K Warm White and 4000K Neutral White, it delivers a very good colour rendering of CRI 92+ (Ra > 90) — with measured values that frequently reach CRI 94 due to LED binning.
At 20 watts and 2,000 lumens at 100 lm/W, a single luminaire covers approximately 4–6 m² of floor area. Dimmable via standard trailing-edge wall dimmers or KNX dimmer actuator. With its 245 mm cover plate, the ED8KX fits directly into the 210 mm ceiling aperture of twin-lamp legacy fittings housing Philips® MASTER PL-C 18W/26W or Osram DULUX D/E lamps — the most common commercial downlight standard in office buildings and shopping centres from the 1990s to 2010s.

IP44 — suitable for damp locations and covered outdoor areas
With protection class IP44, the ED8KX 245mm is also approved for damp locations: bathrooms (outside protection zone 1), sports facility changing rooms, covered outdoor areas and indoor swimming pool surrounds with sufficient clearance from the water surface.
LED retrofit for twin-lamp PL-C fittings: direct replacement for Philips® MASTER PL-C and Osram DULUX D/E
💡 LED retrofit for legacy fittings with Philips® MASTER PL-C compact fluorescent lamps (2×18W · 2×26W, G24q/G24d)
The ED8KX 245mm is the recommended LED retrofit solution for commercial twin-lamp recessed downlights originally fitted with Philips® MASTER PL-C compact fluorescent lamps (PL-C 2P and PL-C 4P) — and their Osram equivalent DULUX D/E. Verified product data confirms: twin-lamp PL-C downlights (2×18W or 2×26W) have a ceiling aperture of exactly 210 mm with a housing outer diameter of 220 mm. The 245 mm cover plate of the ED8KX fully covers this opening — no re-cutting of the ceiling required.
Important: This compatibility applies exclusively to
twin-lamp (2-lamp) fittings. Single-lamp PL-C downlights (1×26W) have a significantly smaller ceiling aperture of approximately 150 mm and are therefore not suitable for the ED8KX 245mm — see the
ED6KX 180mm instead.

Tested dimmer compatibility
Note on 20W per luminaire: The higher wattage reduces the maximum number of luminaires per dimmer. For installations with many luminaires, we recommend the
DALI-2 version with a central controller — no minimum-load issues.
KNX / Smart Home
Compatible with KNX trailing-edge dimmer actuators (e.g. MDT, Gira). For large KNX projects we strongly recommend the DALI-2 version of the ED8KX 245mm — cleaner addressing, no minimum-load issues, direct group control.
Important: Use only LED-compatible trailing-edge dimmers. Standard leading-edge dimmers for incandescent bulbs are not approved and may cause flickering or damage.

Frequently asked questions about the 245mm ED8KX
Can the ED8KX 245mm replace a 2×PL-C 26W fitting (Philips® MASTER PL-C or Osram DULUX D/E)?
Yes — directly, with no modifications to the ceiling aperture. Twin-lamp commercial downlights with 2×Philips® MASTER PL-C 26W (G24q-3) or the Osram equivalent DULUX D/E 26W have a verified ceiling aperture of 210 mm with a housing outer diameter of 220 mm. The ED8KX 245mm cover plate fully covers this opening. The ballast and lamp holders are no longer required — the ED8KX is simply fitted into the existing 210 mm aperture.
Compared to a 2×PL-C 26W fitting, the ED8KX saves approximately 68 % energy (20W vs ~58–64W total including ballast losses), lasts approximately 4 times longer (50,000h vs 10,000–13,000h), and delivers CRI 92 vs Ra 80–82 plus a 5-year warranty instead of the standard 24 months.
Also compatible with 2×PL-C 18W fittings (G24q-2, Osram DULUX D/E 18W) — same housing outer diameter 220 mm, same aperture 210 mm.
What should I check for a PL-C retrofit — PL-C 2P (magnetic) vs. PL-C 4P (electronic)?
For the LED replacement this distinction is
irrelevant — the ED8KX 245mm replaces the entire fitting including ballast and lamp holders. Whether the legacy fitting had a magnetic ballast (2P, G24d base) or an electronic HF ballast (4P, G24q base) does not matter: both are removed when fitting the ED8KX. The only important point is that it is a
twin-lamp fitting with a 210 mm ceiling aperture.
Note: Single-lamp PL-C fittings (1×26W) have an aperture of approximately 150 mm — the
ED6KX 180mm is the better match for these.
Will the ED8KX fit my 200 mm ceiling aperture?
Yes — the ED8KX covers apertures from 200 to 230 mm. A 200 mm cutout is the minimum supported size and fits without any modification. At 235–240 mm, please check the cut quality before installation.
How large a space does one 245mm downlight cover?
With 2,000 lumens, a single luminaire at normal ceiling height (2.5–3 m) covers approximately
4–6 m² of floor area. For a 20 m² room, 4–5 luminaires are recommended. For higher ceilings or greater illuminance requirements (e.g. workshop), consider the
ED10K 300mm at 40W.
When should I choose the DALI version?
When you need
more than 5 luminaires per circuit,
KNX building automation, or scene control per room zone. The
DALI-2 version of the ED8KX uses the same luminaire body — only the driver differs.
Is the driver really included in the delivery?
Yes — the matching dimmable 230 V driver is always included, pre-wired. The manufacturer spec icon shows “NO DRIVER INCLUDED” as a generic graphic — this does not apply to our delivery.
Project advice or dimmer recommendation?
For larger projects (offices, hotels, retail) we advise you personally on lighting design, dimmer selection and whether trailing-edge or DALI is the better solution.
