180mm LED Recessed Downlight Dimmable CRI 90 — IP44 — for Aperture 150 / 160 / 170 mm
The ED6KX 180mm LED recessed downlight is available in 3000K Warm White or 4000K Neutral White. Fitted with high-quality Samsung® LEDs and an excellent colour rendering of Ra > 90 (CRI 90+). It fits many common 150 mm standard apertures as well as 160 and 170 mm ceiling cutouts — dimmable via standard trailing-edge dimmers, flicker-free, and produces bright 1,500 lumens luminous flux at only 15 watts power consumption.
With an efficiency of 100 lm/W, one ED6KX is the equivalent of a 100-watt incandescent lamp — at one sixth of the energy consumption. This makes it the first choice for retrofits with a classic 150 mm ceiling aperture: remove the old bulb, fit the ED6KX, done.

180mm LED Recessed Downlight — two colour temperatures for different rooms
The model is available in two different colour temperatures:

3000K Warm White — the standard colour temperature for residential areas, hotel rooms, restaurants, waiting rooms and private living spaces. Creates an inviting and relaxing atmosphere.

4000K Neutral White — the ideal colour temperature for offices, retail premises, corridors and hallways. Clean, neutral light without colour shift — colours at workplaces and on retail merchandise are rendered naturally.
Both models are dimmable via standard LED dimmers for leading- or trailing-edge dimming. Thanks to the high-quality Samsung® LEDs and a reliable driver, the manufacturer provides a 5-year warranty on this LED recessed spotlight.
Ra > 90 Colour Rendering — Colours as They Really Are
The ED6KX has an excellent colour rendering of Ra > 90 (CRI 90+). Anyone who values truly accurate colour reproduction for products and objects will be well served by this model. Especially the 3000K Warm White versions produce a noticeably more beautiful warm white than many budget CRI-80 recessed spotlights — wood looks warm, skin tones natural, fabrics rich.
Note on CRI measurement values (binning): The official specification is CRI 90 / Ra > 90. In practice, measured values are frequently CRI 92 due to LED binning of the Samsung® components, with peak measurements up to CRI 94. We specify conservatively — you typically get more.
This LED recessed downlight is ideally suited wherever accurate colour reproduction of illuminated goods and objects is important — for example in premium retail shops, shoe shops, fashion boutiques or exhibition stands. Colours are rendered very realistically; illuminated merchandise looks more genuine with true colour depth.
IP44 — suitable for bathrooms and covered outdoor areas
As a recessed spotlight with IP44 for 150 mm apertures, the ED6KX is particularly suited for use in damp areas such as bathrooms (outside protection zone 1, i.e. not directly above the shower or bath), under canopies outdoors or in changing rooms at sports facilities. The protection rating covers the majority of typical damp-area applications.

Rule of thumb: the aperture must be at least 10–15 mm smaller than the outer diameter. With its 180 mm outer edge, the ED6KX comfortably covers 150, 160 and 170 mm apertures — the most common standard ceiling cutout in the German renovation market.

What does "CRI 90" mean compared to a budget CRI-80 standard LED? The ED6KX dims reliably via trailing-edge dimming with the following proven wall dimmer models:
KNX / Smart Home Control
The ED6KX can also be dimmed via home automation or smart home with KNX — provided the dimmer actuator used supports trailing-edge dimming. Proven actuators come from MDT or Gira, for example. For pure KNX installations we recommend the DALI variant instead (same luminaire body, different driver) — DALI is often the clean solution for building automation.
Important note on phase dimming: Please use only LED-rated trailing-edge dimmers (also known as "Phasenabschnitt" in German). Classic dimmers for incandescent bulbs (leading-edge / "Phasenanschnitt") are not approved and may cause flickering, humming or damage. With trailing-edge dimming, the effective light output is physically slightly below nominal power — this is an inherent characteristic of the dimming method, not a product defect.

Frequently Asked Questions about the 180mm Recessed Downlight ED6KX
Does the ED6KX fit my 150 mm ceiling aperture?
Yes — the ED6KX is designed exactly for this. It covers apertures from 150 to 170 mm. The most common standard ceiling cutout in the DE market is 150 mm — the ED6KX fits directly, without any widening.
For smaller apertures (110–135 mm) please choose the ED4KX 140mm, and for larger ones (200–235 mm) the ED8KX 245mm.
What does CRI 90 mean in practice — and is that really accurate?
The CRI value (Colour Rendering Index, Ra) indicates on a scale from 0 to 100 how naturally colours appear under a light source. CRI 90+ is the minimum requirement of EN 12464-1 for retail spaces and workplaces with colour rendering requirements.
We specify conservatively at CRI 90. Due to LED binning spread of the Samsung® components used, actual measured values are frequently CRI 92, with peak measurements up to CRI 94. You therefore typically receive more than what the datasheet states.
In practice: skin tones, wood, fabrics and food look noticeably more natural than under CRI-80 standard LEDs.
Can I dim the ED6KX via KNX?
With the trailing-edge variant shown here, KNX dimming is possible — provided the KNX dimmer actuator used supports trailing-edge dimming (e.g. MDT, Gira). This works well in many renovation projects.
For pure new-build / KNX installations, we recommend the DALI-2 variant — same luminaire body, just with a DALI driver. DALI is often the clean standard solution in smart building environments, with precise individual and group control.
Is the driver included in the scope of delivery?
Yes — the driver for the 230 V mains connection is included in the scope of delivery and already pre-wired. You can install and connect the spotlight straight out of the box (Plug & Dim). Spring clips hold the luminaire body tool-free in the ceiling aperture.
Can I use the ED6KX in a bathroom or covered outdoor area?
Yes — with IP44, the ED6KX is approved for wet rooms and covered outdoor areas. Protection zone rules in bathrooms per DIN VDE 0100-701:
- Zone 0 (in water): not suitable
- Zone 1 (directly above shower/bath): not suitable
- Zone 2 and beyond: IP44 is sufficient ✓
Typical applications: bathroom (outside the shower zone), canopy, entrance area, carport, changing rooms.
