A recessed downlight for projects without a bus system
The dimmable LED downlight 13W in 2700K delivers 1085 lumens and is controlled by the dimmer that is already on the wall. As dimmable downlights go it is unusually flexible: because it works with all 14 bezel variants, it fits almost any installation, from a dry living-room ceiling to a damp-rated outdoor area.
- In homes and refurbishments the 230V line is already there, and usually the dimmer too. Only the luminaire is replaced, no new cabling required.
- In practices, offices and shops one dimmer circuit per room is enough, as long as individual luminaires do not need separate control. That keeps installation and operation simple.
- In hospitality CRI 98 keeps food and drink looking true to life, and the brightness follows the time of day through the dimmer.
- In living rooms and bedrooms 2700K gives a yellowish-warm light like an incandescent lamp. Dimmed low it comes close to candlelight.
Downlight, recessed spotlight or ceiling light – what is meant?
Several terms are used for this type of fitting: downlight, recessed spotlight, LED ceiling light, recessed spot or ceiling downlight. They all describe the same principle, a luminaire set flush into the ceiling. The differences are structural: the bezel determines shape, colour, IP rating and cut-out size (72–85 mm here), the LED module determines output and colour temperature, and the driver determines how it dims. Anyone looking for dimmable LED downlight with high colour rendering usually means exactly this combination of bezel, 13W module and driver.
CRI 98 light quality, well beyond the CRI90 standard
CRI90, also written Ra 90, counts as the industry threshold for good colour rendering, and many suppliers advertise it. The 13W downlight of the Titan Spots series sits above it: the spectrometrically measured colour rendering index is 98, so it reproduces the daylight spectrum very closely.
Critical parts of the spectrum such as the R9 value (saturated red) are well above 90. For hotel lobbies, restaurants and high-end interiors that means skin tones, fabrics, wood tones and food are rendered without distortion, at every dimming level.

2700K or 3000K: where is the difference?
Both colour temperatures belong to the warm white band (below 3300 Kelvin under EN 12464-1). The gap is only 300 Kelvin, yet side by side it is clearly visible: 2700K has a yellowish-red cast like a classic incandescent lamp, while 3000K reads slightly crisper and more neutral without turning cold. Both versions share the same CRI 98, the same electronics and the same 14 bezels.

Rule of thumb: use only one colour temperature within a single sightline, because side by side the difference is immediately obvious. Different rooms may well use different colour temperatures, for example 2700K in living areas and 3000K in the kitchen and bathroom. When adding to an existing installation, match the Kelvin value already fitted.

Dimming without a bus: trailing edge in practice
On the trailing edge the dimmer sits directly in the 230V line and cuts off the rear part of each half wave. The more it cuts, the darker the light. The drivers of this downlight are built for exactly that, so dimming happens with the dimmer that is already on the wall. No extra control line is needed.
What matters is the right type of dimmer: an RC or universal dimmer with a trailing-edge setting, approved for LED loads. An old incandescent dimmer working on the leading edge will not do. In the trade this dimming method usually goes under the name TRIAC dimmable, and it refers to the same driver. If you are unsure, send us the make and model of your dimmer and we will check it.
Trailing edge or DALI – advantages and drawbacks
Both versions deliver the same light: 13 watts, CRI 98, 1085 lumens in 2700K. The difference lies entirely in the control.

In short: the trailing edge is usually the cheaper option and it is enough as long as one dimmer circuit per room will do. The group on that circuit stays modest, because the capacity of the dimmer limits how many luminaires it can carry. DALI costs more to install but allows individual addressing, central scenes and smooth, flicker-free dimming across many luminaires.

Sustainability through a modular system
In this luminaire the bezel, LED module and driver are joined modularly rather than glued or soldered together. In the rare event of a fault, each component can be replaced or serviced on its own instead of scrapping the whole fitting.
That keeps the installation flexible over time: if the interior style changes later, the bezel can be swapped for another colour or model from the selector. Housing, module and ceiling cut-out stay as they are.
Lighting expertise What actually matters when dimming LED downlights
Three questions come up again and again in customer enquiries.
The first is the dimming method. The drivers work on the trailing edge, so the right choice is an RC or universal dimmer with a trailing-edge setting. A pure leading-edge dimmer from the incandescent era will not do.
The second is the group: all luminaires on one circuit dim together. If a room needs two separate moods, plan two dimmer circuits, use a KNX universal dimming actuator with two channels, or move to the DALI version.
The third is colour. Colour fidelity comes from the LED module, not from the dimming level. CRI 98 therefore holds at any brightness, and that is exactly what shows in dining rooms and in front of mirrors.
