Dim2Warm – Natural Dimming Like an Incandescent Bulb
A classic incandescent bulb behaves like this when dimmed: the weaker the light, the warmer the colour. The filament glows yellowish-white at full load, orange-warm at 20% brightness. LED spotlights lacked this natural behaviour for a long time – until the Dim2Warm module. Via a programmed DALI lighting scene, the light automatically warms as it's dimmed down: from 2700K at full brightness to 2000K, candle-like and intimate – with no separate tunable-white system required.

DALI is the specialised standard for intelligent lighting management, allowing every fitting to be individually controlled, dimmed or grouped into lighting scenes. The classic TRIAC (phase-cut) version of this spotlight, on the other hand, dims via any standard LED dimmer – simple, affordable and with no bus system needed. Because the DALI bus runs as its own 2-core control cable separate from the mains supply, the wiring differs: anyone switching from TRIAC to DALI will need to run a DALI bus cable to the consumer unit or gateway, in addition to the mains cable.

For professional lighting control, KNX integration, or projects with many fittings, the DALI version offers the finer, flicker-free dimming curve and digital grouping into lighting scenes.

What cut-out diameter do I need for this round IP20 recessed spotlight?
This spotlight requires a ceiling cut-out of 72–85 mm. The round bezel has an outer diameter of approximately ∅90 mm and covers the cut-out completely.
Can I install this spotlight in a bathroom or wet room?
No. With an
IP20 rating, this spotlight is only suitable for dry indoor spaces. For bathrooms, spas or covered outdoor areas we offer the equivalent
DALI Recessed Downlight Round IP65 version, with a fully sealed housing and front lens.
Why is this spotlight tiltable but not watertight like the IP65 version?
The tiltable bezel relies on a moving joint between the bezel and the module so the light direction can be freely adjusted, which is also why it goes without a fixed front lens. That same mobility and open optic are exactly what prevent a permanent IP65 watertight seal – in exchange, you get maximum flexibility to aim the light in dry indoor spaces.
What's the difference between a recessed spotlight, recessed downlight and ceiling spotlight?
In the trade, these terms are mostly used interchangeably for the same type of fitting – a point light source recessed flush into the ceiling. Real differences only emerge from technical features such as tilt/adjustability, IP rating (e.g. IP20 for dry indoor spaces) or dimming technology (DALI, TRIAC).
What is Dim2Warm and how does it work?
Dim2Warm couples brightness and colour temperature: the more you dim, the warmer the light becomes – from 2700K at full brightness down to 2000K (candlelight) at the lowest DALI dimming level. This happens automatically via a programmed DALI lighting scene, with no separate tunable-white system needed.
Dim2Warm or Tunable White – what's the difference?
Dim2Warm: colour temperature and brightness are coupled – dimming automatically means warmer. No extra system needed. Tunable White: colour temperature and brightness are controlled independently (e.g. 4000K at 20% brightness) and requires suitably programmed DALI control. Dim2Warm is the simpler, more natural solution; Tunable White is more flexible for offices and care settings.
Does the spotlight retain CRI 98 in the warm Dim2Warm range?
Yes. Spectrometer measurements on the 2700K module show Ra = 98 and R9 = 93 at a measured colour temperature of 2786K. Colour rendering stays excellent even in the warmer Dim2Warm range, with no yellow cast and no distorted skin tones.
I have a KNX smart home system. Can I integrate this DALI light with it?
Yes, that works. This DALI light can be integrated into a new or existing KNX bus system via a suitable KNX-DALI gateway.
I have a DALI-1 bus system. Can I still install this spotlight?
Yes, the supplied DALI-2 driver is fully backwards-compatible with DALI-1 networks. Alternatively, the driver can also be controlled directly via PUSH dimming (a simple, unlit installation switch) if no bus system is available.
Do I need to run additional cabling when switching from TRIAC to DALI?
Yes. The DALI bus requires its own 2-core control cable, separate from the 230V mains supply. Anyone switching from the TRIAC version of this spotlight to DALI will need to run this additional bus cable to the consumer unit or DALI gateway.
Why choose the DALI version over the cheaper TRIAC round version?

If you don't need a bus system and just want conventional dimming, the TRIAC round version is more than sufficient.
Can the DALI fittings be individually addressed and controlled?
Yes. Every DALI-2 driver is assigned its own unique short address on the DALI bus during commissioning. This allows each spotlight to be individually programmed, dimmed, or flexibly grouped into lighting scenes in software, without any rewiring.
Can I switch between the four colour temperatures later on?
Yes. The modular LED system allows switching between 2700K, 3000K, 4000K and Dim2Warm. The bezel, housing and DALI driver all remain unchanged in the ceiling – no new ceiling cut-out is needed.
Will the DALI spotlight fit standard mounting boxes (e.g. Kaiser)?
The outer dimensions match the proven TRIAC round version (72–85 mm cut-out, approx. 45 mm installation depth). However, the integrated DALI driver is slightly different in size to the TRIAC driver. For installations using mounting boxes (e.g. Kaiser boxes), we recommend a brief check with our team before ordering, to confirm the available depth for your project.
Can I reorder the bezel, LED module or driver individually if a part fails?
Yes. The modular design means the bezel, LED module and DALI driver can all be reordered independently. In the event of a fault, the entire fitting doesn't need replacing – saving cost and resources.
Can I change the bezel later if my interior style changes?
Yes. The bezel, housing and LED module are all modular. If your interior style changes later, the bezel can easily be swapped for a different colour or design, without altering the existing ceiling cut-out.

Can the DALI luminaires be individually addressed and controlled?
Yes. Each DALI-2 control gear receives its own unique short address on the DALI bus during commissioning. This allows each downlight to be individually programmed, dimmed, or flexibly grouped into lighting scenes via software, without rewiring.
Can I reorder the bezel, LED module or driver separately if a part is faulty?
Yes. The modular design allows the bezel, LED module and DALI driver to be reordered independently of one another. In the rare event of a fault, the entire luminaire does not need to be replaced.
Can I change the bezel later if my interior style changes?
Yes. The bezel, housing and LED module are modular. If your interior style changes later, the bezel can easily be swapped for a different colour or model from the bezel selector above, without altering the existing ceiling cut-out.
