Room situation:

Office pendant luminaires are a very good choice in rooms with very high ceilings. You have the option of hanging the luminaire long so that enough light reaches the desks

What light color for pendant office lighting?

In most cases, the 4000 Kelvin neutral white light color is used. The 4000K still has some red in the light and not too much blue. It is very pleasant to work with.

• For constructive work tasks with a lot of detail or for people who prefer a clear, cool light, a 5000 Kelvin shade or 6000 Kelvin shade is ideal

Uniform illumination and ambient lighting

Pendant luminaires usually hang low above the desk. This means that the rest of the room may not have sufficient ambient brightness.

In addition to the required brightness of 500 lux at the VDU workstation, the room should be evenly illuminated.

The following aspects should be considered:

• Are there other ceiling lights in the room as basic lighting?

Dimming and dimmability of an office pendant luminaire

Dimming of office pendant luminaires is nowadays realised by DALI dimming using trailing edge dimming in small offices. However, not every product is suitable for dimming. Office pendant lamps with replaceable light sources cannot normally be dimmed.

However, if the light colour of an office pendant lamp can also be changed, the light can almost always be dimmed using a remote control.

Dimming the office lamps also saves additional electricity and extends the service life of the LED lights as they are operated at a lower power level.

Office furnishings and architecture

• Existing window areas can be used to utilise daylight. Desks should be positioned at right angles to the window in order to make optimum use of the light coming in from the side.
• Pendant office lighting should cover the shape of the desk wherever possible. An office pendant light with 120 cm or office pendant light 150 cm would be ideal
• Dark furniture and floor coverings absorb a lot of light, up to 20-25% of the required brightness. This must be taken into account when planning office lighting.
• Office furniture with shiny surfaces should be avoided as they reflect the light and can cause annoying glare
